GAME FAIR – KIDS EVENTS

Kids won’t run out of things to do at Game Fair and there’s always so much going on for them to see and try. Kids of all ages love to watch all the dog events from retriever speed contests to dock jumping and the dog agility course. Every day at 11:30 there’s a doggy parade up in the Federal Ammunition shotgun shooting area followed by the fantastic trickshooting show by Travis Mears. His shows even often include interactive opportunities for young people!

Kids can learn how to shoot a bow and arrow with the folks from the Rapids Archery Club for a few dollars. They have different sizes and pull weights depending on what best fits a young archer. There’s a field full of 3D foam targets including elk, dinosaurs, deer, turkey and other critters—complete with balloons to pop as the arrow hits its mark. Other kid events include the Sling Shot where a buck or two gets them a bunch of marbles to try their luck busting a clay pigeon. Kids can learn how to safely shoot an air rifle on the mini-range and get a target to keep proving their newly refined skills.

There are Youth Duck and Goose Calling Contests going on and a daily duck calling seminar up on Waterfowler Hill. Learn how to honk like a goose and quack like a duck for free! Check the Game Fair seminar schedule and calling contest schedule for more details. On top of all that, many of the vendors have games in their booths and fun things for kids to explore. Did we mention dogs? There are all varieties of dogs walking the Game Fair grounds with Dog Clubs and doggy vendors eager to let you make new furry friends (maybe even some puppies that need socializing).

Don’t forget to refuel at all the tasty fair food options including cotton candy, lemonade, corn dogs, mini donuts, ice cream, sundaes, and plenty of other treats to keep the energy going strong.
